Domaine Tortochot, based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, is now run by Chantal Michel Tortochot, the 4th generation and winemaker of this winery. Before joining her father Gabriel Tortochot, a fervent defender of Burgundy's wines in the 1990s, she retired from her financial career and returned to wine school. Chantal belongs to the new generation of wine producers who wish to produce wines with a taste of their "terroir", she started to convert the winegrowing manner towards more organic and environmentally-friendly in 2003. Finally in 2013, Domaine Tortochot produced the first vintage of organic-certified wine. Domaine Tortochot owns around 12 hectares, mostly based in the Gevrey-Chambertin and the rest is spreading from Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits.
