Rhône
Rhône
The Rhône wine region is located in the south of France along the Rhône River. It produces a host of wines under the AOC system with the Côtes du Rhône AOC being the major one. The region can be split into two sub-regions. The northern part produces red wines from Syrah grape, purely or blended, and white wines from Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier grape varieties. Whilst the southern part produces red, white and rosé wines, mostly blends of several grape varieties. The region’s most famous appellations include Beaumes des Venise AOC, Gigondas AOC, Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC, Tavel AOC, Cornas AOC, Condrieu AOC, Château-Grillet AOC, Côte-Rôtie AOC, Crozes-Hermitage AOC, Hermitage AOC and Saint-Joseph AOC. The valley is blessed with breathtaking landscape and a variety of terroirs given a unique sense of belonging. Wines of the region are best enjoyed while young. They express all the power of youth alongside a rich texture with complex aromas due to their aging process.
